Advice from the Experts
Some
Reasons Delaware is a Great
Place to Buy and Use Your
RV
One
of the first considerations
is that most campsites in
Delaware are seasonal sites
that are generally open
from April 1st through October
31st. They range in price
for the season from $1,800
to $3,500 depending on how
close they are to the beach.
Campers are able to keep
their RV on the site allowing
for an easy commute from
the surrounding states.
The
most popular RV is a park
trailer which is a travel
trailer that is 35 feet
or longer. The park trailer
is different from a park
model in two key areas.
The electrical system on
a park trailer is 12 volt
allowing for electrical
slideout systems instead
of the manual ones found
on park models. Park trailers
also have holding tanks
which most campgrounds require.
In addition to the technical
differences, park trailers
add features not typically
found on regular travel
trailers like sliding glass
doors, residential refrigerators,
and surround sound entertainment
systems. It is easy to see
how camping can become a
way of life in a home-away-from-home.
While
most campgrounds in Sussex
County have waiting lists,
there are some new ones
that will be opening in
Spring 2008 and campers
may want to start putting
things in place now.
Another
popular RV in Delaware is
the truck camper. Most dealers
in the surrounding states
do not carry them because
of issues with sales tax.
Since truck campers have
no title and Delaware has
no sales tax, the savings
can be substantial depending
on the type of truck camper
the customer is looking
for.
The
most popular use of truck
campers in Delaware is for
surf fishermen because “they
can take their camper on
the beach with them.”
Other campers like them
because when they travel
they can still pull a boat,
car, motorcycle, or horsetrailer.
Delaware
is a great place to camp!
