Chef Advice from the Experts
What
is a Personal Chef and
Why Would You Use One?
A
personal chef cooks dinners
for you, with the emphasis
on “you”.
The food is prepared and
cooked in your own kitchen,
so you can see everything.
And you house smells delicious.
Before
cooking anything your
chef will talk to you
at length to discover
what you and your family
would like to eat. It’s
personal right down to
the ingredient level.
If you don’t want
cilantro, for example,
your chef will either
leave it out or find a
substitute.
Once
your food preferences
are known your chef will
design a menu of dinners
tailor made for you and
your family. Typically
5 or 6 different meals
will be included, with
as many servings of each
as you want. Most chefs
can handle up to 48 total
servings. Prices vary
depending on what you
choose and how many servings
you want but, as with
most things, the more
you order the less each
one costs. Most of the
cost is in the Chef’s
time and it doesn’t
take much longer to cook
8 servings than it does
4.
At
this stage a date is set
for the meals to be prepared
– the “Cooking
Day”. On the appointed
day your chef does all
the shopping and brings
everything to your house,
including all the equipment
that will be needed to
prepare, cook and package
your meals. All you need
to provide are the oven
and range, and enough
room in your freezer for
the finished meals.
You
don’t even need
to be there.
So,
if you want home-cooked
dinners but don’t
have the time or skill
to make them, or would
rather be doing something
else, a Personal Chef
may be for you. If you
have food allergies, or
need a special diet, a
Personal Chef can help
- remember, we work at
the ingredient level.
If
you need to lose weight
(don’t we all?)
the very best way is to
eat less. A Personal Chef
can gradually reduce the
size of your portions
until you reach your target.
Then you can still eat
the things you like.
